Before I begin you need to know I'm really good at assembling furniture- so good that I'm on speed dial in my friend group to come and bail them out or to just take over from the beginning. This assembly was not really complicated but will take 2 people and *a few* hours. You will also need to know a copy things. There is a COMPLETELY MISSING STEP which will leave you scratching your head and what's really spooky is that it should be part of Step 13. By the time you have gotten there you will have the back & seat of the futon constructed. and will have attached the springs. See Photo #1 for what the spring attachment looks like- they have a L or R stamped on them and the frame sits on top for construction. -After that The directions fail to tell you that you will then attach the futon back/seat to the frame. You will do with with #9 Screws and #3 bolts.- If you do everything in order they will be the only pieces left. This will be a tiny bit tricky and you might want to set the whole thing on milk carton or have an 2 other people hold it while you install. It's also tricky b/c one of the bolts sits under the spring and you need to very careful about pulling on that spring to get to it.---One more caution-- in step 1 you will be constructing top and bottom of the frame. The bottom [Part I} is a solid rectangle- be sure the welded part- i looks like picture frame - is INSIDE and that the two holes are on the bottom of that piece on both sides when installed. Photo #2And lastly- there is a piece labeled U that is a heavy duty "C" clamp - ONLY install it if you want to use the bottom as a futon couch and never plan to convert it to a bed - you will not be able to convert it if these things are installed. Photo 3All in all this is a nice sturdy piece. You will want to supervise the conversion from futon to bed and back as the catch is a pin with a heavy clip and could easily take a small finger off. The good news is it is also very sturdy and would be hard for a child to operate so unlikely to them to do it on accident.First off, this bed is a great value. I needed something to go in the guest room of my new house, but as a new homeowner I needed it to be inexpensive. This fit the bill nicely. It has the highest weight limit, both top and bottom bunk, that I could find in any similar frame and was the least expensive of those weight options.Second, you will definitely want another person to help with assembly. There are A LOT of pieces and the first few would be difficult to put together without someone stabilizing them. Also make sure you double check which direction each piece should be facing. I made that mistake and had to take 3 pieces out after discovering it. Fortunately it did not require full disassembly to correct my mistake, but it was annoying nonetheless.Third, the directions will tell you to put all the support rods for under the mattresses on first and then install the plastic stabilizer pieces afterwards. DO NOT DO THIS. As you install the rods, put in the plastic stabilizers. You'll thank yourself later. I also recommend using a rolling chair for installing the rods on the bottom bunk. Your back will thank you immediately. After this was fully assembled I am very impressed with just how strong this bed frame really is. I had a similar bed as a teen and even when everything was new and the screws were tight it creaked and groaned. This new one I just assembled does no such thing. There is no give or play in any of the connections. I'm super impressed.I bought this bunkbed for my 7 and 8 year old sons. The bed came nicely packaged with decent instructions for assembly. It took me about 3 or 4 hours by myself to get this completely put together and I would say I have some good experience putting things together and this was a little bit of a challenge. I would recommend not putting together alone, a partner would be nice to assist with this. The instruction manual was decent and definitely helped me to get it right the first time. The bed has been up for a few months now and it is holding well. My only complaint really about it is that it is fairly squeaky! I have tried tightening the bolts and stuff but the squeak persists. Other than that the kids love it and it looks nice as well. Also, it does come with extra screws and stuff in case you lose one or two, which is always great. Some of the instructions where a little difficult to follow but overall everything went smoothly. You definitely need a buddy to help and I do suggest a power tool just be careful to not strip the bolts.Very sturdy ! Easy to assemble! Nice piece of furniture! 4 stars! Ladders need padding though! It's hard on little feet otherwise! I recommend this bunk bed!I was bit skeptical with this buy until it arrived. Its a huge box and very well packaged. I liked the the thought that the packings does not have styrofoam. The unpacking is easy enough and assembly is as well pretty easy. My kids were helping me unpacking and assembly. Hence I would say the assembly is easy enough to identify the parts and have them put in right place. Only help I needed from another adult was to hold the tall columns standing until I screw them tight. The size is decent and its sturdy enough to hold 70 LB boy on top bunk and another 45 LBS in lower full size. My wife occasionally sleep on the lower bunk with the younger one. The structure is strong enough to hold the weight. I have not heard any squeaking in the month of usage. One good part is that the lower bunk is high enough to slide down 4 full size bags underneath without anyone recognizing it.ConsThe accessibility to the far edges of top bunk while changing the sheets. I am taking down the whole mattress, pin down the sheet and then put it back, its way too easy than trying to reach far edges. The lower bunk feel bit large than the full size. The mattress fits loosely and we need to adjust it every now and then.Overall, great buy, couldn't expect more for the price tag!!Arrived with pieces bent. Assimbled ok but had to reshape some parts to fit again after being flattened in shipping. Affordable but does not feel like it's a long term bed as it's a bit wobbly. The latters are not easy to climb up or down.Very heavy and A LOT of pieces to assemble but I am very happy with it!Great value. My 6 and 4 year old love it. Assembly with 2 people was about 2 hours. Arrived quickly and with zero marks, scratches or missing pieces.Love that both sides have ladders.Very happy with this purchase. This sucked. Putting it together sucked. The grey push on attachments keep popping off and the bars keep falling and it so frustrating. Now I have to unassembled it and carry this heavy package to the post office.Definitely a bit of a project to put together and oh my goodness the box was heavy. Good product though. Had to tighten it several times over a period of a few weeks or else it squeaks when you are moving in it.My two complaints are the plastic clips they give you break easily, but they do give you extra. And the futon when set up like a couch is very slanty. I have to put a pillow behind me to be comfortable. One more thing... It came with an incorrect bolt. Fortunately, customer service was great and got me a replacement very fast.I do like this bunk bed, I just would have preferred if the bars were a little sturdier. It seems a little wobbly. The ladder also has a large gap which makes it a little awkward for kids to climb. I do appreciate the rails going all around the upper bed though.
