Kids love to play pretend. That seems to be a universal rule and my kids are no exception. This purchase didn't go as I'd anticipated but that's not a bad thing. For starters, I bought this for my daughter but my son freaked when he saw it so it ended up "belonging" to both. They each have their own fantasy worlds revolving around their house and what's one minute a happy homemakers paradise for my little girl has been known to "magically" turn into the White House, The Biltmore Estate...whatever strikes their fancy. And neither of them technically uses it as their bed!! Speaking of using it for its intended purpose, I do feel it necessary to point out that you'll need to get box springs or slats as well as a mattress (I ended up forgoing the springs and slats and just put a mattress down, mainly because I have to take it out repeatedly depending on what pretend world they happen to be in. They do sleep in it but a lot of times that's just because they play hard and immediately crash hard. We couldn't let either of them lay claim to it exclusively because they both loved it so it ended up becoming a play and nap area. It was beyond easy to assemble and took very little time. Of course when you have two kids both screaming is it ready yet, you hurry yourself up as much as possible. Its well made though and the materials are sturdy...sturdy enough for two not so little ones to go crazy in it day after day after day. It was a totally worthwhile buy and we've more than gotten our moneys worth. If you've got kids or a very active imagination this is a must buy.
