This bed is great for the cost but was very challenging to put together. The slats on all three of the beds took about 2 hours before we found that if you use the long screws to hold the 2 slats in place and work from the inside out, your slats will not fall out every time you try to insert the next one. Tighten each down just enough to squeeze each slat in. Once done, replace each long screw with the sort ones. Make sure you use a screw gun to tighten everything. Sturdy and no squeaking. Sure wish the directions would have said that.This bed frame is quite shaky. It needs a support beam going diagonally across the back. We’re going to try to intall one. Also the wood panels didn’t fit. Be sure to get 6” mattresses.The bed was not easy to assemble really when it came to the slats especially. Also, the ladders did not line up with the holes, but we attached the top ones and then zip tied the bottom. It works fine. The bed definitely sways when climbing up to the top bunk and is VERY squeaky if anyone moves. My grandson loves his bed squeeks and all, and it does look good. Would I buy this again or recommend it? No.For the price, this is a decent option. If you want something seriously sturdy you’ll need to spend twice as much buying something made of wood from an actual furniture store, but this one is ok as long as all the bolts are tight and it’s anchored well to the wall. I cut two lengths of 2x6 poplar and screwed them to the wall in order to anchor both top and bottom bunk using rigid electrical pipe brackets (ie the kind holding power line drop to a house). Plenty sturdy that way. Top bunk rail is perfect height for 8 inch mattress, you could even squeeze a 10 inch mattress up there if you want and still have some of the rail there to keep you from rolling out.You need at least 2 people to put this bed togetherGot this for the cabin.
